NEW D4 DIVISION – NEW SCHEDULE FOR EVERYONE.

Division 4 coaches have agreed to revise the current division to better support all levels of experience for the remainder of this season. We felt newer or rookie teams had a disadvantage and games with more experienced teams were not as competitive as we had hoped.

Through much hard work by coaches, parents, the league board, and particularly our scheduling-wiz John Heroux, we’ve created a new schedule to for the rest of the season. We understand many games have changed, plans will be changed, and this is more work for all of us, but it was the right thing to do for the new teams of Division 4.

In summary, we split D4 into two divisions – D4: Gators, Bulldogs, Seahawks, Falcons, Chargers, and Red Raiders. D4R: Lions, Sharks, Steelers, and Raiders

We keep records as is and revise the schedule to play as many games against teams in your own division only. Only through competitive teams of similar skill, will you raise the level of play.

Standings – keep them as is, and we will rely more on head to head in your division than overall as we acknowledge the lack of similar competition. Points Against is important within your division, so emphasizing defense is key.

Seeding – All A teams make the playoffs and the top two teams from B flight make up two of those 8 seedings. Lowest two teams in B flight get their own bowl game and both teams get medals.

This solution makes for better games and raises the level of play week in and week out. It helps the rookie teams have some hope and to learn all year and we still allow the top half of the B flight to participate in the playoffs.

WE ALL SCREAM FOR ICE CREAM (AND THE BCS)!

Beach Cities Sports has organized a fundraising event at Glacier Gourmet Ice Cream and Gelato in Manhattan Beach for the week of March 15th – March 22nd. Anyone that purchases any of Glacier’s Gourmet ice cream, gelato, sorbets, coffee, sandwiches or salads and mentions “Beach Cities Sports” will help us raise money….40% of all proceeds will go to the league!  Glacier’s address is 1605 N. Sepulveda Blvd in Manhattan Beach. They’re right across the street from the Marriott Residence Inn and the Toyota Dealership. For those returning to the league, Glacier was the company that provided the delicious ice cream during last season’s end of year party on Championship day. So treat yourself, your family and the BCS by stopping in Glacier the week of March 15th. And tell your friends and family to stop by as well. We’d appreciate it!
